and typesetting industry.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book.

It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

The Project

Perched high above Ornos Bay on the island of Mykonos, the V&V House fuses traditional island charm with modern design. This reimagined residence showcases the true essence of craftsmanship, with every detail carefully considered during an immersive creative process. Our team lived and worked on-site throughout construction, sourcing materials locally and handcrafting many of the interior elements. The result is a space that honors its original island aesthetic while embracing a contemporary approach.

The house, originally built in the early 1980s, has been expanded and transformed. Set on a steep hillside, the design excavates into the land to create additional guest bedrooms, while internal walls are removed to open up the space and create a fluid, open-plan layout. At the heart of the home is an expansive al fresco kitchen and dining area, framed by 30-meter wooden beams that provide both structure and character. The terrace, well-suited for gatherings, offers uninterrupted views of the bay and the Aegean Sea, stretching out to the untouched islands of Rineia and Delos.

The home’s exterior’s tone is set by blue accents, from the painted front gate to the balconies and wooden shutters, which pop against the pure white render. Inside, reclaimed and recycled wood takes center stage, appearing in tables, furniture, carved panels, mirrors, and other decorative details. These elements highlight the island’s rich craft traditions, while hanging textiles bring warmth to the cool, smooth surfaces of the walls and floors.
